DISCLAIMER - Lennys Candles / Lenny Francesca’s  do not accept liability for loss or damages caused by negligent mis-use of candles.  Always take care and caution when using candles in and around your home. Please remember that although candle and wax melt burning is wonderful, aromatic and peaceful- it involves lighting and burning a live flame which always has its risks. Ensure you follow safety guidelines and burn at your own risk.
ESSENTIAL OILS- may be harmful if ingested. Do not allow animals especially cats to come into contact with any essential oils (especially peppermint, lavender, cinnamon, lemongrass, lime)- they can be toxic and deadly if ingested or come into contact with the skin.  To be extra safe - keep away from pets and children as stated on the safety label!

More candle safety- as this is the most important part

BEFORE YOU LIGHT YOUR CANDLE

CANDLE SAFETY//

  • Place candle on a heat proof/fire safe surface. Before burning your new candle- ensure the wick is no longer than 4mm.
  • Check for any decorations/flowers or debris that may be too close to the wick- remove them.
  •  Avoid drafts, drafts can cause the flame to become uncontrolled and possibly dangerous.
  • It is recommended that candles do not burn for longer than three hours and cool for at least two hours before trimming the wick and relighting.

WHEN YOUR CANDLE IS LIT

  • Never leave a candle unattended. The same way you would not leave any other flame/fire/cooker burning.
  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire- obviously. Keep burning candles away from plants, walls, picture frames, furniture, curtains, open windows, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.
  • Keep your candles/wax melt burners out of reach of children and pets. Do not place lit candles/tea lights where they can be knocked over by children, pets or anyone else.
  • Never touch or move a candle/wax burner while it is burning or while the wax is liquefied.
  • Don’t burn your candle all the way down to the base. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 1/2 inch of wax is left.
  • Extinguish a candle if the flame becomes too high or flickers repeatedly. Let the candle cool down, trim the wick, and check for unwanted drafts before re-lighting. If you are at all worried about the flame, extinguish immediately and discontinue use.
  • Never use a candle as a night light or while you may fall asleep- although candles are lovely and peaceful - it is still a live flame and can cause serious harm.

EXTINGUISHING YOUR CANDLE

  • Use a candle snuffer to extinguish a candle. It’s the safest way to prevent hot wax from splattering.
  • Never use water or any other liquid to extinguish a candle. Liquids can cause the hot wax to splatter and might break a glass container due to the change in temperature
  • Make sure the candle is completely out and the wick ember is no longer glowing

WAX BURNER/OIL BURNER SAFETY

  • Check your burner regularly for any cracks or damage
  • Do not overfill your burner
  • NEVER add water to your burner
  • Use with an unscented tea light - soy wax is the safest and lennys candles will always recommend using this type of wax
  • Keep away from children and pets
  • Keep away from draughts/open windows
  • Never leave a lit candle or tea light unattended
  • Place on a heatproof/fire proof surface
  • Burners get very hot. Do not move until it has completely cooled down.
  • If wax starts to simmer and bubble this means it is too hot- it can start to spit if left too long. Extinguish, leave to cool and relight when the wax has set again.
